Matilda class came to Forest School this afternoon and had a busy time as Forest School explorers.
On our walk into the woods we explored our footsteps by using a viewfinder foot outline and magnifying glasses. Some of the children were surprised to find small insects which they might have stepped on.
For the rest of the afternoon the children were happy and confident exploring the environment. They made dens, climbed on fallen branches, used trees for hanging upside down, and hunted for insects.
Some children decided to sit with me and learn some useful knots, such as the ‘overhand’ knot, a ‘figure of eight’ knot and a ’round turn and two half hitches’ knot. They felt a sense of achievement when they could successfully do the knot and enjoyed teaching their friends.
